Traceability
AMR Research found:
- that 67% of the US and EU food companies in their study had recalls that cost USD$20 million or more
- that it took average of 42 days to complete the recall process and – at best – they could only locate 43% of affected products.
The ability to track and trace fish up and down the supply chain allows trading partners to react faster and more precisely to possible recalls, outbreaks of food-borne illness and new food safety regulations. GS1’s Global Traceability Standard defines the framework for traceability processes, whatever the enabling technologies.
True product traceability – enabled by standards-based visibility – reduces the risk of brand reputation damage and can lower recall costs.
